* Why...?
Why not? The net is full of peoples' web pages, newsgroups, chat networks, and, whilst they're all undoubtedly bigger and better than the stuff that preceeded them, they're not as skillful. Anyone with no arms and a right foot can pick up a copy of FrontPage or any other web editor and knock up a web page that looks half decent (but the same as everyone else's!) within minutes.

But what do you do with the web? You type in a URL and look at it. Perhaps, if you're lucky, you spend four hours trying to retrieve a vaguely necessary plugin from somewhere on the other side of the world only to find that it crashes your computer because you haven't got the latest web browser or operating system.

And, what's more - it's fun. Running a BBS was great fun; it took loads of your time to set up and then pretty much looked after itself when it was running. You just had to call everyone else's BBSes and leave conspicuous adverts everywhere saying "Call now!". So - doing a web page about it is the closest you'll get.

It's a world away from the billions of articles which flow through usenet, more pretty than telnetting to a talker, and less risky than chatting to a random person on the other side of the world. (Although we hope you'll be able to do that too!).
